Captain Matthew Flinders, R.N. Monument
Sydney, Australia

A monument to Captain Matthew Flinders, R.N. who played a major roll in charting the coastline of Australia during the latter years of the 18th century and early part of the 19th century, shortly after British settlement in Australia, during his circumnavigation of the Australian continent. This statue is situated in a shaded area adjacent to the Mitchell Wing of the State Library of NSW in Macquarie Street, Sydney.  This is complimented by a smaller statue to Trim, Finder's cat, who accompanied him during his voyages. (Ordinary Seacat Trim, RN Memorial)

Another statue of Flinders is located in Melbourne.
